THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
NOVEMBER 4, 2018
Most people become aware of this body system when sickness arises, i.e. swollen lymph nodes. Some can be felt and even seen, while others are located deep within the tissue. Lymph nodes may swell when fighting a basic germ and then disappear, or there may be swelling/tenderness of a node that appears without reason, found by touch or a body scan, which generally causes a red flag and further action. Either way, the inflammation occurring in a lymph node is a huge clue that there is an abundance of large molecules (viruses, bacteria, undigested proteins, cell debris etc.) which are too large for the circulatory system to transport, so the lymphatic system must take a shot at breaking them down using the big guns, lymphocytes. The circulatory system and lymphatic system work parallel to one another, and they constantly call on the immune system to destroy foreign invaders >> it's like Star Wars up in here!
The thing to remember is this vast system plays a huge roll in keeping us healthy, but with one small twist . . . We MUST keep it going, it's not connected to a "pump" like the circulatory system, if we're stagnant - it's stagnant and trapped toxic waste will accumulate.
Daily lymphatic care is so important and so easy to implement. There are some very simple actions to keep the lymphatic system strong and at the ready. See the image for my top recommendations. If you need more guidance, call my office at 615.624.4489 for an appointment and I'll customize a protocol specifically for your needs.
Don't wait until you have to do something about it, take preventative measures now, and resilience will be on your side.
Take care of your Lymphatic System and it will take care of you!
