Our team is made up of skilled naturopaths, wellness practitioners, and support staff who each bring unique tools to address gut health, detox, hormones, and more. From your first appointment to follow-up questions, every team member plays a vital role in creating a professional, supportive experience. Together, we’re committed to helping you heal naturally – one step at a time.
Dr. Suzanna Underwood is a visionary in natural healthcare, with over 20 years of experience. She is a Board-Certified Naturopath Doctor, Master Herbalist, Certified MSA Technician, Certified RBTI Specialist, Certified Natural Health Practitioner, former nurse, and founder and CEO of Boro Holistic Health.
She has dedicated her life to providing hope and natural solutions to those seeking true health. Her journey began as a cardiac nurse, where she witnessed the limitations of conventional medicine firsthand—its over-reliance on synthetic drugs and surgeries—leading her to embark on a lifelong mission to uncover the body’s innate ability to heal through natural, holistic methods.
Driven by a desire to offer comprehensive wellness solutions, in 2015, Dr. Underwood and her husband, Jamey, founded Protect Your Earth Suit, an all-natural health clinic in Middle Tennessee, which has since been renamed Boro Holistic Health to better reflect its mission and geography. The clinic operates as a Private Membership Association, commonly referred to as a PMA, thus keeping it in the private sector and out of the public arena, preserving our freedom of speech and right to assemble.
Through Boro Holistic Health, she offers a wide range of natural health modalities all under one roof, including Bioenergetic Testing, Colon Hydrotherapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Ozone Therapy, Functional Labs, the Superhuman Protocol, Thermography, Chiropractic Care, Naturopathic Pediatrics and more.
Dr. Underwood’s husband, Jamey, serves as vice president and is her only business partner. He left a lucrative corporate career 10 years ago, and they committed their lives to growing the practice. Together, they strive daily to balance their professional lives with homeschooling their children, homesteading their farm with over 100 animals, vegetable gardens, and living a sustainable, handmade lifestyle.
As co-founder and Vice President of Boro Holistic Health, Jamey brings a unique blend of business acumen, creativity, and behind-the-scenes leadership to the clinic. Before launching the dream with his wife, Dr. Suzanna Underwood, Jamey was a successful corporate facilitator and spokesperson-a career that was both rewarding and lucrative. But he traded that path for something greater: building a legacy of health, hope, and community alongside his family.
Together, Jamey and Suzanna often laugh that “she’s the medicine, he’s the money.” While Dr. Underwood leads the clinical care, Jamey handles the operational, financial, and strategic side of the business, ensuring that the vision of comprehensive, holistic wellness thrives. His passion for systems, storytelling, and growth has been instrumental in shaping both the clinic and the Boro Labs™ supplement line.
Beyond the clinic walls, Jamey serves as President of Wooded Acres LLC, the family’s growing farm operation, where the roles reverse - he leads while Suzanna supports. Whether it’s developing land, raising livestock, or expanding production for the clinic’s Corner Market, Jamey thrives on building sustainable ventures that serve both family and community.

Lead Clinical Nurse
Since 2014, Jessica has been serving her community as a Registered Nurse in fields such as oncology, medical surgical, and pre-operative/PACU. After spending several years in a hospital setting, she determined there must be a better way to treat and prevent the conditions she was frequently seeing. This set her on a trajectory toward holistic living and led her to Dr. Underwood, who saw much of herself in Jessica and quickly made her senior nurse at Boro Holistic Health.
She has been working alongside Dr. Underwood since 2021 and is experiencing firsthand the benefits of natural medicine when caring for the needs of those coming to the clinic, as well as for her own family.
When not at the clinic, she loves baking sourdough bread, raising chickens, tending her garden, and spending time with her husband and three children.
Functional Lab Specialist & Ozone Therapy Technician
Kristi Leigh brings over a decade of experience in healthcare to Boro Holistic Health. She began her journey in 2010 at Middle Tennessee State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medical studies. Her passion for learning and excellence in patient care led her to pursue eight additional healthcare certifications, including Certified Advanced Practice Medical Assistant with IV Therapy, Certified Phlebotomy Technician II, EMT, and Surgical Technician, EKG Technician, and became certified to teach Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, and EKG courses.
After nearly a decade in conventional medicine, Kristi Leigh began to question the “sick-care” system, recognizing that patients were often managed but rarely healed. This led her to holistic healthcare in 2019, where she discovered the body’s incredible ability to heal when supported naturally.
Kristi Leigh joined Boro Holistic Health in 2024, where she now leads our Ozone Therapy program and plays a key role in running our Functional Lab testing, helping uncover the root causes of imbalance. Kristi is constantly complimented on her gentle touch with blood draws - joking she could throw a needle across the room, stick it perfectly and you’d never feel it.
Outside the clinic, Kristi Leigh enjoys life on the farm with her husband and their three children. She’s loves gardening, canning, raising chickens and rabbits, spending weekends on softball field with the kids, cheering on the Vols, and cruising in a 1989 Foxbody Mustang. She embraces the simple joys of life.
Certified Natural Health Professional
Amanda Whetsel is a Certified Natural Health Professional with a passion for helping individuals and families embrace a balanced, holistic lifestyle. Her own health journey began over a decade ago, when she recognized that the conventional “sick-care” model wasn’t providing true healing. As a long-time patient of Dr. Suzanna Underwood and Boro Holistic Health, Amanda was inspired to pursue formal training in natural health—earning her CNHP and currently working toward becoming a Holistic Health Practitioner through Trinity School of Natural Health.
Guided by the belief that God designed our bodies with an innate ability to heal, Amanda is committed to equipping others with the tools and encouragement to support that design. She lives what she teaches—spending time outdoors with her husband and two young sons, homeschooling, gardening, caring for backyard chickens and their family dog, and making nourishing, from-scratch foods like homemade sourdough.
She feels truly blessed to now walk alongside the BHH team and serve the growing community she already holds so dear.

Sammi Jo is new to Murfreesboro, and is the newest member of our team here at Boro Holistic Health! Fascinated by healing since childhood, her love for health has only grown deeper over the years. She has a lifelong passion for learning and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences with an emphasis on pre-medical studies, as well as a minor in biochemistry and a BFA in dance.
Upon graduating in 2017, Sammi chose to first pursue a career in the arts. Throughout her time as a professional musical theater and concert dance performer, she had the opportunity to see the world and build friendships that still bring her joy to this day. During this time, Sammi also experienced firsthand how our health directly impacts our ability to mentally and physically operate at an optimal level. When injuries or ailments arose, she always found herself gravitating toward natural, non-pharmacological approaches to healing, as treating the root cause rather than the symptom is something that continues to excite and inspire her.
Now, at Boro Holistic Health, Sammi is excited to be able to share her experiences with the community, and to continue learning and growing with the wonderful and supportive staff at the clinic. When not at work, you can find Sammi traveling to see her family, exploring local farmers markets and garden shops, and trying new, healthy recipes at home. She also is a Certified Personal Trainer, and loves to help people find joy in movement. Sammi believes that given the right tools, there is nothing that the human body cannot do!
