  • Stomach massage two times daily or more often if needed. 3 minutes for each round.
  • Perform massage am and pm:

* Look for a flat surface to lie on. This could be your bed or on the floor.

* Assume a supine position by lying on your back. Try to be as relaxed as possible.

* Locate the sternum (xiphoid process/solar plexus area) and put your thumbs below this area.

* Apply moderate/hard pressure and slowly move your thumbs toward your navel or belly button. And breathe out with force. Remember to maintain moderate pressure as you slide your fingers down.

*second massage: Following the path of the intestines, massage from right to left. Making a square around the abdomen.

* Do this for 3 minutes straight.

* Perform the abdominal self-massage two times a day, preferably in the morning and in the evening.

* When a flare occurs find someplace quiet where you can lay comfortably and do a stomach massage until the symptoms pass.

Hiatal hernia

Since a hiatal hernia is primarily a mechanical problem, the easiest and best way to correct it is mechanical. Medical doctors have attempted surgery to correct this disorder, but the results tend to be poor. Cutting into this area can further weaken it so that the hernia will return in short order. A better method is to manipulate the stomach and bring down the hernia by hand. You can find a good chiropractor or massage therapist who understands this problem and knows how to correct it.

A possible cause for all hernias:

Emotional tension, stress, and repressed anger is the primary cause of most hiatal hernias. A person “swallows their frustration/anger” and “can’t stomach it.” When you get upset, you suck your breath upward. If you are unable to release this emotion, your stomach stays up. I have observed that most people with severe hiatal hernias have a great deal of emotional stress and hold a lot of it inside.

Foods/beverages attributing to a hernia:

  • Coffee
  • Alcohol

Lifestyle tips for managing Hiatal Hernia:

•Address the source of stress and find ways to manage it. (Essential oils, Herbs, teas, exercises, prayer and meditation, etc).

•Don’t eat within three hours of bedtime, and don’t lie down for at least one hour after meals. Sit straight up during meals so as to not compress the stomach and esophagus (no slouching on the sofa).

•Eat frequent small meals, large meals cause bloating and pain. Take smaller bites and chew each bite longer.

•Perform the stomach massage every day in the a.m. and p.m.

•Easy workouts, no weights, squats, or anything strenuous.

•No tight clothing around the waist.

• Engage in deep breathing exercises or meditation. Find someplace quiet where you can sit comfortably until the symptoms pass.

•H. pylori is usually an indicator of a hiatal hernia.

•When sleeping, elevate your head to avoid acidity as well as heartburn.

•You may take a short walk after you have taken your meal.

•Never strain when moving bowels.
